I have done quite a bit of sewing this week, but can't show too much of it yet. I did finish a ufo.

I completed my last bow and now need to get them together in a top

I spent too much time looking for a pattern for a gingerbread house. Melanie www.jellybeanangel2.blogspot.com , had written in a blog post about using a stitchery pattern as applique and it inspired me. So that is what I did with a stitchery pattern I ordered recently (excuse the strings and I need to put something on top of the pole). Thanks Melanie!

Fusible ric-rac

I had a few people ask how I did the fusible ric-rac.
Here's what I did

First I laid the ric-rac on a strip of muslin

Then I laid a strip of heat and bond on top of the ric-rac - paper side up of course.

ironed it next

Then the tedious part of cutting it out.

Peeled the layers apart and now I can put little bits of ric-rac everywhere!
All my gingerbread men are iced in no time!

I'm just about finished my sscs from Chookyblue's swap. I had one thing in mind and then after seeing a new pattern and rereading my partner's blog I changed my mind and did something totally different (but a little more time consuming). So while I had hoped to have it finished last week I just finished it last night.
Soon as that was done I started working on other Christmas things that I can show a peek of. Lots of gingerbread man cuteness going on here.

And this might just look like a plain piece of ric-rac - but no it's not. I made fusible ric-rac!!!

Farmhouse Craft Sale

I went to a craft sale this morning. It was in a farmhouse and I took some pictures to share. I especially like the way they use quilts to decorate and cover tables. If you live locally and would like me to share the address let me know. They are open Saturday November 14th and also November 21.

Love the lamp with the spools of thread and the piece of old quilt. Notice the bow tie pattern - done by piecing - not the cheaters way I would do it!
There were old toys displayed under the trees and in the corners.

I love this quilt.

More of a good thing

Remember these?

A trip to Target to buy dog food and dishwashing soap ended with me buying these!

As easy and cute as the Halloween ones turned out - I couldn't resist for Christmas presents. I see lots of prairie point making in my future.

Veteran's Day

"They will live a long time, these men of the South Pacific…. They, like their victories, will be remembered as long as our generation lives. After that, like the men of the Confederacy, they will become strangers. Longer and longer shadows will obscure them until their Guadalcanal sounds distant on the ear like Shiloh and Valley Forge." (quote from Tales of the South Pacific by James Michener).

A picture of my Dad when he was 18 in the Navy during World War II. My family and I went to see a terrific production of South Pacific last week. I enjoyed it so much. Especially knowing it was my Dad's favorite muscical. He had a very fun side to him, was a teaser and one of his life long sorrows was that he lent that jacket in the picture to a relative and never got it back. But there's this picture of him looking so young and handsome and laughing.

One more to go!
