Today Linda www.all-stitched-up.blogspot.com showed us what was on her table (and isn't that giraffe really cute?) - She asked what was on our tables - so here goes:

Can you believe I just cleaned it off last night. There were lots of scraps - that are now in that red pot waiting to be sorted by color, some wool that I put aside a long time ago and just got out to finish it, lots of containers with scraps & rotary cutter & ric-rac, my bin with blocks I'm currently working on, somewhere in there is the beginning of my first PIF. I had only one PIF person sign up and she has dispearred from blogging. My thought is to surprise some of my blogging friends if I don't hear from her soon (if you would like to join in let me know), also last night I cut out some more blocks for my whirlygiggle top, one of my treasured posession - a little leather and felt box that was my grandmothers - she kept her embroidery floss in it and now so do I. She gave it to me when I was a little girl and her eyes were no longer able to sew. My huge table gets messy quickly - I'm always amazed at what I find on it when I tidy it up.

I've been working on some WIP's - not to mention finishing up my Christmas in July swap.

I decided to go larger on my whirlygiggle quilt - I have some really cute polka dotted fabric that I want to use in it.

I'm saving all my strips and have been sewing them onto foundations. I'm not sure what this will end up being - but it's thrifty! I wouldn't give my husband strips to tie the tomatoes up this year - they're all mine.

Finished my 70 blocks for Crazy Mom Quilts quilt-along.

Something else I've been working on too. I've been using leaders/enders to do this - but worked a couple of evenings getting this part of the project finished.

Check out Lori Holt's blog www.beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com (one of my favorite) for a terrific giveaway. Just visit her blog for a while and enjoy the music - I love it!

Look what I won!

The quilt I won from Cyndi at Wishful Stitches www.wishfulstitches.blogspot.com arrived yesterday! Isn't it beautiful. The fabrics, pattern, applique and quilting are all spectacular. It goes perfectly in my dining room. Thanks Cyndi for such a generous give-away - I'll certainly treasure it.

Not much sewing going on

Not much sewing to show. I am sewing - just can't share my Christmas in July swap ... yet. So here's my photo for today - I'll call it Monday cuteness. I actually went to the pool today and not just to drop off/ pick up (which is what I do several times a day). DS and I played tennis - 90 degrees very hot, so I sat in the shade after and read my book ( I love to read does anyone know how I can read and sew at the same time - boy would that make me happy), chatted with a friend - lovely day!

They look like ping-pong balls zipping around their mother!

Fathers Day

I found this picture of my Dad taken in 1928 last year - I edited it, cleaned it up some and framed it. It's a really happy photo. He was a very fun, funny person, he was great at telling jokes, knew everybody, made friends easily, he had 2 daughters and was very happy with no sons. He called my sister, mom and I his girls. He loved teasing his girls, my mom, my grandmother, aunts, etc. He joined the navy at 17 was a navigator in the pacific, got out at 20, and almost got arrested when he was 20 for breaking into to the church bell tower and replacing the record of the bells with Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, they let him off cause he was a veteran. He started smoking when he was 16, stopped for good when he was 67! He loved candy, and could fix anything, I talked to he and my mom everyday on the phone and he always asked if I ever needed anything. Once he hid a donut in the seat cushion so my mom wouldn't catch him eating it, he took the blame for breaking a table that I broke and my own kids ratted me out to my mom 30 years later - she was still mad, he attend JFK's inauguration and served Bing Crosby mint juleps at the Kentucky Derby in the early 40's, he hated Ethel Merman, but loved Edie Gourmet. He never raised his voice, and once he set the back yard on fire, but once he saved an elderly neighbor and their big scary dog from a fire. Some things that embarrassed me about him when I was young make me laugh now. He would do anything for anybody and I am still proud of him.

I've fallen

My last post was much more wordy than typical for me (I talk - a lot - it's a problem) but I try to keep my blog posts short. So for this post all I need to say is I've fallen off my fabric diet - and here's why - 1/2 yard. I don't even know what I'm going to do with it. I made it 56 days until then.

A great day yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first reason it was a great day was that yesterday was our first day of summer vacation here - all my kids are now finished with school for the year. We have a lot of people in our town who send their kids to year round school - but I was never a fan of the idea - the main reason:
SUMMER VACATION!!!!!! I love the kids being home - no school, going to the pool, baseball games, swim meets, going to the beach , sleeping past 5:45am, playing games - it's all good.
The second reason - yesterday morning I stopped at the bagel shop and I saw a woman get out of her car with 3 small children and I probably scared her at first - but I said - "I know your kids" ... 2 very cute twin girls www.quiltdad.blogspot.com . and one darling little boy. Any guesses? It was Mrs. Quilt Dad! I recognized the children from John's blog (we live very close to each other) and let me tell you they sure are cutie pies. If you're not familiar with his blog check it out he does stunning work - and of course occasionally has pics of his kids on there.

The third reason (there aren't enough exclamations points to demonstrate how excited I am about this) I found out I won a blog giveaway!!! Cyndi at Wishful Stitches www.wishfulstitches.blogspot.com was so generously giving away a beautiful quilt - she asked that we tell her our quilt mishap stories. This is what I wrote: "I decided to quilt a Halloween table runner with the word "boo" free-motioned quilted on the background. After I finished I realized that I hadn't thought spacing out real well and it looks like I quilted the word "boob" all over it!" While the quilt turned out great - I can't look at it without thinking 'boob' quilt. At the time my husband said no one would notice and then later in the day dd#1 asked why I wrote 'boob' all over my quilt! Here's a picture of the infamous "boob" quilt

My camera is misbehaving (actually yet again I left it on and now I need a new battery) so I'll soon have to post an up close picture of the quilting.
Thank you so much Cyndi!
